About

Our Mission Statement
It is the mission of MSAD #44 Continuing Education to serve as a bridge for adult learners to reach their personal goals relating to literacy and employability in a nurturing environment, through caring instruction individualized to the student’s learning style and personal circumstances.  Target areas of service include basic literacy, high school diploma courses, GED preparation, technical preparation, college preparation, college support, computer literacy, career guidance and job readiness.

High School Completion Programs:

High School Diploma:  Academic classes and individualized program options offer opportunities for adults who have not completed high school to earn their diploma.  Adult diploma students can be awarded credits for military experience, employment, volunteer work and homemaking.

General Educational Development (GED)

The GED consists of five parts which measure a person’s ability to use correct English in written expression; read and comprehend material in social studies, science and literature; and solve problems in mathematics. Students may prepare to take the GED test by studying on a flexible basis in the Adult Learning Center. Two score requirements must be met to obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma: a score of at least 410 on each test AND a total average score of at least 450.

The GED test is offered on a flexible basis for students enrolled in GED prep classes. There is no charge for the GED tests. Special accommodations for candidates with documented physical and learning disabilities can be provided with prior approval.

The GED test provides a uniform measure of high school achievement.
